Nambu Tekki ironware is said to have emerged in the early 17th century when the Nambu feudal clan invited Kyoto kettle craftsmen to their capital of Morioka. Such works have seen a recent resurgence in Japan after Nambu Tekki products catering to more Western tastes and commissioned by European markets including France began to gain popularity back home.

The decorousness and warmth of Nambu Tekki products have made them some of the most renowned Made-in-Japan products in the West, and the time is now right for a reappraisal of the technique’s true value.
